The Nosara Civic Association, or NCA, was formed in 1975 as a Costa Rican chartered non-profit association dedicated to orderly growth, consistent with maintaining intact the natural beauty of our area among other things. This was done in accordance with the wishes of the Association's general assembly and the laws of associations of Costa Rica.
The NCA Bylaws state that “The purposes of the Association are to promote the utmost material and intellectual growth of all the inhabitants of the area known as “Playas de Nosara”, without distinction; to promote the region's progress without interference with the local culture of its prior inhabitants or the scenic beauties. It shall furthermore watch over the protection and conservation of the region's flora and fauna, striving to maintain the natural ecological balance. It shall be responsible for the organization and operation of any services or utilities necessary to fulfill the above aims”.
The NCA serves as the Beaches of Nosara administrative body and the local environmental protection group. Beach and wildlife preservation are vital issues for the NCA, along with its role as liaison to the public and to various governmental agencies. It exists to serve the residents of the entire “Beaches of Nosara”; to preserve the natural environment within planned and controlled growth; and to maintain the quality of life and to enhance the community in which we live by providing information, support and value to its members and its neighbors.
