Have you noticed the benches along the Senderos de Nosara? They’re appearing all over. Here are some sample photographs. Remember that you, too, can donate a bench, with the option of adding a plaque in your name or in someone’s honor. Click on The Nosara Bench at nosaracivicassociation.com/nosarabench/

People continue to tell us what they like about the Senderos de Nosara and how they use them. Del Mar teacher Guillem Miñón Prat organizes mountain bike rides on the trails for Del Mar Academy. They use the Trail Map to explain and promote the rides. He writes:

“I want to thank you for your work. You know how to improve our leisure time! Those trails are really good. Our favorite one is the Marcel Schaerer, because we love its variety pedaling up and down the hills. It is true that some creeks are hard to pedal across. Some bridges would help solve this problem!

“We would also like to create an enduro park on a hill, let’s say Las Huacas, with one road to pedal up and several trails (of different levels) to come down. A park like that would bring bikers from all over Costa Rica, since there are few like them. We know this is a big project, but we can dream.”

MTB Club is part of the after school program ASPlay of Del Mar Academy. Prat directs the program, and Tom Pellegrino leads the club. Together, they plan routes around Nosara and surroundings. The club is free and open to everyone in the Nosara community. They meet every Wednesday at 4:00 pm.

Here’s a reminder of another way to use the trails: On Sunday, July 10, the Catholic Church in Nosara is sponsoring a recreational bike ride. This is a great way to get to know more of Nosara. The route goes through most of the trails as well as through Nosara downtown, the neighborhoods of San Pedro and Los Ángeles and crosses Río Montaña several times along the trail that connects with Santa Marta. In addition to being beautiful, these routes are mostly flat. You can choose a 20km or a 30 km ride for 8,000 colones per person.
