In preparation for the rainy season and the peak nesting season for turtles, TortuGuiones is working on a series of frequently asked questions and a campaign on social media to educate the local community about arribadas and etiquette for sea turtle tourism. TortuGuiones will also be working to maintain and replace beach markers along Playa Pelada and Playa Guiones soon, so keep an eye out for announcements if you would like to volunteer to help out.

In April, Vanessa Bezy (Founder of TortuGuiones) attended the International Sea Turtle Symposium. The Annual Symposium on Sea Turtle Biology and Conservation is a unique event that draws participants from around the world, from across disciplines and cultures to a common interest and objective: the conservation of sea turtles and their environment. At the symposium, Vanessa presented her dissertation work on the mass nesting behavior of sea turtles at Ostional and used the opportunity to talk about the TortuGuiones project and the importance of protecting the Ostional National Wildlife Refuge.
