We Achieved in Nosara The Third Electric Route in Costa Rica

Date

Today, January 31st, is a historic day for the Nosara community . Thanks to the work here in the Nosara Civic Association and that of organizations such as Corclima, the Electric Mobility Association, nosara.com, and the national Electric Routes Costa Rica program, Nosara has become  the third destination in the country to now have an electric route.

What does that mean? From now on, anyone who has an electric vehicle will be able to come to our community, since Nosara now has 16 official charging station points. Also, the residents of the community will be able to choose to buy an electric vehicle without fear of running out of battery.

This project is a clear example of how as an organized community we can achieve invaluable results. This route would not have been possible without the interest and active participation from hotels, restaurants and businesses.

Since 2021, we at the Nosara Civic Association have been holding workshops with the community to explain what an electric route is and the benefits of having a project of this type. These workshops helped to coordinate with other organizations and businesses to make this project a reality.

Nosara.com joined us in this work, helping us buy semi-electric chargers for some businesses in the community as well as by financing the cost of these charging stations for some smaller businesses.

Opening Day

The inauguration took place this Monday at the Celajes restaurant and was attended by the Vice Minister of Energy, Rolando Castro, the Mayor of Nicoya Carlos Armando Martínez, and other representatives from businesses and organizations.

The Vice Minister of Energy, Rolando Castro, mentions that these types of projects have an invaluable value to consolidate Costa Rica as a green destination. In addition, he added that in 2021, 3% of imported vehicles in the country will be electric and they expect this number to grow year after year.

“The decarbonization plan is not just a government project. Each one of us has a key role in decarbonization, so these types of initiatives have a high impact for the country,” said the deputy minister.

For his part, Nicoyan Mayor Carlos Armando Martínez thanked the Nosara community for its efforts to have initiatives that counteract the impact of climate change. In addition, he announced that for this 2022, the celebration of June 5, the International Day of the Environment, will be held in our Nosara community.

In Costa Rica, Monteverde was the first place to have an electric route, followed by the community of La Fortuna. The news that Nosara became the third place in the country to have a charging  route, has already been reported in some media outlets such as CRhoy and El Observador.

The first lady of the republic, Claudia Dobles, also shared some of the photos of the electric charging stations in Nosara on her social networks and assured that this is a boost for Guanacaste.
